DEBATE: AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IN EDUCATION

“Affirmative Action” is a term originated in the United States in the 1960’s, when President J. F. Kennedy issued a policy giving people with disadvantaged backgrounds a more “affirmative” priority in employment. This type of policy has been implemented in many countries and in many areas such as: health care, social welfare and education. In the UK and many other countries, this type of policy is more often referred to as “Positive Discrimination”.

In Vietnam, Affirmative Action is very popular. In university entrance exams, the exam scores of students with disadvantaged backgrounds (ethnic minorities, students from poor remote regions, etc.) are often boosted with additional “affirmative” points. Many education experts do not agree with this policy, but many government officials say that the policy is necessary for the social-economic development of Vietnam.

Below are some starting points to help your team brainstorm your debate. You shouldn’t limit yourself to the suggested points, and you’re encouraged to try to find many more supporting ideas.

Pros (For):

• Affirmative Action (AA) is needed to address inequality in our society. We should help students from poor regions acquire good education so they can contribute to the development of their homelands.
• Affirmative Action (AA) makes sure that everyone has equal opportunities to employment. Rich parents can afford to send their children to better schools and tutoring classes. Their children will do better in universities and will have better chance to get good jobs. Without AA, the children of the rich will get richer, and the children of the poor will get poorer.
• AA leads to a more diversified environment in universities. Students with many different backgrounds studying together can learn from one another. University graduates will have a broader perspective in life, which will lead to a more open and dynamic society.

Cons (Against):

• AA discriminates against talented students. Disadvantaged students with lower scores will get in university and take the place of more talented students.
• AA itself is a kind of discrimination. Rich people (provided that they get rich legally) are entitled to a more secured future for their children because they’ve worked hard to earn money.
• Giving places to students from remote regions with lesser academic capacity will lead to lower teaching standards in universities. The whole society will suffer as a result.

Most of us, especially young people, have at least once thought about living in some foreign countries. The fact is that there are millions of people who are now living outside of the countries where they were born. Traveling to foreign countries seems fun while living overseas may seem like a full-time touring opportunity. There are countless reasons for people to travel/live overseas, the most common of which are: the joy of change, sense of adventure, desires for challenges, opportunities to open their minds, to learn how to be patient and to satisfy their curiosities.

• Imagine that your group’s job is to launch a marketing campaign to make your chosen country as tempting / inviting as possible.
• Ataround 6.45pm, each group will have 5-7 minutes to give a short presentation (a “sales pitch”) to the club.
• Everyone votes for their favorite sales pitch. There will be A COOL PRIZE for the most convincing “sales pitch” !

Most people are like this: They have many aspirations, and they know what they want, but why is success still eluding them? Besides, if knowledge is power and the forerunner to success, why do they find themselves aimlessly wandering? There are many different answers, but the fundamental answer is the absence of a proper goal.

AGONY COLUMN

Have you ever read an advice column (sometimes also called as “an agony column”) such as: "Dear Abby", "Dear Anne", or "Dear anh Chánh Văn" (Hoa Học Trò)?

Among those who read agony columns, some hopes to find the solution to their own agony by reading the columnist’s advice for a similar situation. The rest simply enjoys reading about other people’s private lives and problems.

Alternatively, you may prefer online agony columns which don’t have a columnist. In this case, the readers themselves can give many valuable and useful advices.

Discussion Questions

1. What are the most common issues in an agony column?
2. What are the main advantages and limitations of an advice column?
3. When you have a problem, who do you turn to for advice? What's the best piece of advice ever given to you?
4. Who was the latest person you gave advice to? What problem did he/she have? What did you say?

HIV DISCRIMINATION

Cancer: die. Encephalitis: die. AIDS, the same: die. However, people who have cancer or encephalitis get sympathy from the whole community, while people with AIDS are shunned away or even isolated from their family. What is the root of this difference?

Nobody wants to be infected by HIV. Moreover, it’s impossible for us to tell whether an infection is caused by the patient’s own action or whether it was done against his/her will. A rape victim or an unsuspected wife of an adulterous husband is clearly not responsible for her infection. Should we shun these poor victims?

On the other hand, drug users who shared needles with their companions or a playboy who had an unprotected intercourse are clearly responsible for their own infection. But are they immoral? After all, carrying HIV does no harm if they don’t infect more people.

Finally, the HIV infected patients have their own basic rights to be treated and taken cared of just like everybody else.

Discussion Questions

1. How much do you know about HIV and AIDS? Do you know the differences between them?
2. Do you know any real person with HIV, and their daily life before and after getting infected by HIV?
3. In your opinions, what are the best ways to protect other people from being infected with HIV and eliminate this epidemic?

TECHNOLOGIES IN OUR DAILY LIVES

(In a survey of 2000 people in the UK [1], three-quarters of the respondents said they have sent text messages, blogged or surfed the internet while on the toilet. :-)

In just a few years, technologies have radically transformed the way we work, communicate, or reach out to friends and family. In our daily lives, many pieces of technology have become indispensable.

Many think that our dependence on technologies is a threat to society, but many others think that it is an inevitable development that we should not resist. In our discussions today, we will not judge whether using a particular technology is good or bad. Instead, we’ll only share and observe our daily habits. Then, we’ll try to predict the consequences or effects that the use of technologies will have on our lives.

Discussion Questions:

1. What technologies? Make a list of all the pieces of technology you use on a daily basis. (A piece of technology can be an electronic equipment, a gadget, a software, a website, etc.)
2. How important? In the list above, what pieces of technology are really indispensable (i.e. you cannot live without them)? What pieces are really hard to give up, but you still can live without them? And finally, what pieces are merely habits and you can make an effort not to use them?
3. Our daily habits. Do you want to access Facebook whenever you go? Can Google be your shopping assistant? Can the internet replace TV as the main entertainment platform? How do you discover hot new stuffs to talk about with your friends?

SUMMER TRIP TO TAM DAO

This Sunday, HYEC will NOT hold a regular indoor session at Nguyen Du primary school. Instead, we will have an excursion to Mt. Tam Dao. (Still open to register if you're interested; follow the provided link for more info.)

We will resume our regular programs on next Sunday (May 16, 2010).

When May comes, a sweet nostalgia strikes a note in my heart

I don't know why, but every year, when Summer starts to blossom, my thoughts often wander back to my childhood years (especially to all those shy glances and awkward touching ;-).

It's hard to describe, but what I feel is perhaps a strange mixture of a little bit of excitement, a small dose of contentment and a fair bit of sweet nostalgia! And no other songs come close to capturing my feelings like "First of May" does. This song, originally performed by The Bee Gees, was the theme song for a cult classic film about puppy love "Melody".

Something nice to look at while you're listening to the song. :-)

Quiz: How many strings are there in this photo?

Riding around on a beautiful summer day in Vietnam, it’s impossible not to notice the bare backs of our modern Cô Tấms with various numbers of strings: two, three, four, one, or even one and a half! The police are calling this: “the number 1 traffic hazard.” Our elderly citizens call this: “the decadence of society.” Wives: “Look at them, what a shame!” And husbands (with a feint surprise): “What? What are you talking about? I didn’t see anything!”

And all the while, in his comfy grave, Shakespeare is rolling around and mumbling: “Two strings or not two strings: that is the question.”

Debate Questions:

1. Do you like all those “strings” floating on the streets around you? Would you personally wear any of those?
2. Pro List: Make a list of reasons that “strings” should be encouraged. Cons List: Do another list of reasons why they should be discouraged.
3. For each of the items in the Cons List, try to come up with a remedy. For each of the items in the Pro List, try to come up with a counter-example.

Ngày 1: Hà Nội - Tam Đảo

• 7h00: xe đón tại cổng trường Nguyễn Du (32 Lý thường Kiệt). Đúng 7h30 xe chạy. Trên đường đi chúng mình tha hồ ngắm nhìn phong cảnh miền núi Trung du, trò chuyện, giao lưu văn nghệ trên xe.
• 11h30: đến Tam Đảo nhận phòng nghỉ ngơi, ăn trưa.
• Buổi chiều chúng ta thăm quan thác Bạc, tắm suối hoặc tắm ở bể bơi hay tham gia các trò chơi tại khu du lịch Tam Đảo.
• 19h00: ăn tối tại nhà hàng (Tam Đảo có đặc sản ngọn su su ngon lắm ạ :D)
• Tối chúng mình nghỉ ngơi và cùng nhau khám phá thị trấn Tam Đảo về đêm.

Ngày 2: Tam Đảo - Hà Nội

• 7h30: sau khi ăn sáng, chúng ta "chinh phục đỉnh cao" bằng cách leo bộ lên khoảng…1.400 bậc đá đứng trên đỉnh Thiên Nhị, dưới chân ngọn tháp truyền hình cao hơn 100m.
• 12h00: ăn trưa tại nhà hàng.
• 13h30: tiếp tục leo gần 200 bậc đá đến đền bà chúa Thượng Ngàn. Ngôi đền là nơi lưu giữ một truyền thuyết đẹp.
• 16h00: đoàn xuất phát về HN.
• 18h00: đến HN và kết thúc hành trình đẹp của tháng 5. Sau đó chúng mình có thể sẽ ăn tối tiếp cùng nhau nhé. :X

• Chúng ta tập trung đúng địa điểm và đúng giờ (strictly please !), tránh tình trạng đợi chờ nhau. Khởi hành sớm luôn là điều thuận lợi trong mỗi chuyến đi.
• BTC nhà Ếch sẽ chuẩn bị thêm nước uống, khăn lạnh, hoa quả, "bim bim", thuốc chống say….
• Ngoài quần áo đồ dùng cá nhân cơ bản, mỗi thành viên nên mang theo: những đôi giày, dép mềm để thoải mái vận động, di chuyển hay leo trèo; áo khoác nhẹ phòng khi nhiệt độ xuống thấp về đêm hay sáng sớm.
• Trong suốt chuyến đi, các thành viên được khuyến khích ghi lại những hình ảnh, khoảnh khắc đẹp (bằng máy ảnh hay ĐTDĐ). BTC sẽ trao giải cho những bức ảnh dễ thương nhất với "title" (bằng tiếng Anh) hay nhất.

"REPRODUCTION FOR HIRE"

"Reproduction for Hire" (Đẻ Mướn) is one of the first ever made-in-Vietnam movies about sex and marriage life. In the movie, Vân, a loving but infertile wife, decides to give her husband (Bảo) a child by hiring another woman (Mai) to sleep with him.

Despite the fact that this practice is illegal, it is quite widespread, especially in the poorest rural regions of Vietnam. For many poor couples, it is too expensive to have an IVF (in vitro fertilization), and the easiest way to obtain a biologically related child is to hire someone else to have sex with the husband (or with the wife, if it is the husband who is infertile).

Because it is not officially sanctioned and protected by the law, there have been many conflicts related to this practice. For example, the hired mother/father may decide later that they want to claim the right to her/his child. Even worse, many hired women tried to blackmail their “employees” into giving them large sums of money in order for the truth to remain a secret. Who dares to claim that he/she hasn’t told a lie during his/her life?

On the one hand, people argue that lying should be kept to a minimum because its consequences are so often undesirable. Therefore, in most situations, telling lies seems to be one of the dominant factors why strong relationship among people breaks down. One conventional view of lying is that telling lies is bad and should be definitely avoided at all costs.

On the other hand, though most of them are perceived as bad, lies are also considered good. Sometimes, we justify to ourselves that it doesn't matter to tell a white lie and that perhaps, someone would lie to avoid disappointing others, or to protect himself from stressful or difficult situations.

Discussion

1. How do you understand the above quote by Ann Landers? Why do you think people tell lies?
2. Under what circumstances is it justified to tell lies? In other words, should we always tell the truth?
3. How can you detect if someone is lying to you?
4. It’s generally not good to tell lies, but is it a perfect ground to judge someone in life, especially in love life?

DEBATE: IS ADVERTISING HARMFUL TO CHILDREN?

Advertising has grown to a multi-billion dollar empire, in which large corporations pay huge amounts of money to influence public attitudes and consumers’ habits. Often, the benefits of these corporations’ products and services are dubious; sometimes, they can even be harmful. Children are particularly vulnerable because they’re naïve and easy to influence.

Group Discussion (30 minutes)

You’ll have 30 minutes for group discussion to prepare yourselves for an open debate that comes later. You might want to start by answering/discussing the following questions:

• Are there any commercial products or services that might have negative effects on children’s physical and mental development? Can you give some examples?
• Who should be the person to decide whether a product is good or bad for a child? Should that person be the child him/herself? How about his/her parents, educational or health experts, government regulators?
• Do you think that advertisements give all the necessary (and accurate) facts for a person to decide if a product is good or bad? What if that person is a child?

Bạn có tin xem phim nước ngoài (w/ Original English Version / Soundtrack) là một cách thực sự HIỆU QUẢ để nâng cao khả năng Nghe Hiểu ( Listening Comprehension ) & Nói ( Speaking ) tiếng Anh ?.

1. Tiếng Anh trong phim là thứ tiếng Anh thật, gần gũi và tự nhiên ( in real life )

Nó ( tương đối ) khác với ngôn ngữ viết / trang trọng ( formal )
E.g.
Written ( Book ) :"The price of five dollars was acceptable, and I decided to purchase it."
Spoken ( in the Movie ) : "It was, like, five bucks, so I just took it."

"Slangs", "idiomatic phrases", etc được sử dụng nhiều.
E.g.
"Oh girl, you freak me out !"
"Be careful what you say. The children are all eyes and ears."

2. Xem phim, bạn “copy” được cách phát âm chuẩn của người bản xứ ( Native Speakers )

Bạn ( đã ) hay sẽ nghe thấy "R" là âm đặc trưng trong tiếng Anh Mỹ, họ cong lưỡi ( curve the tongue ) khi phát âm những từ kết thúc với "R" như "for", "car", "far", etc.

Đôi khi người Anh ở London sẽ phát âm "three" như "free". Người Anh ở Leeds nói "good luck" như "good look" (!).

Hay rất nhiều từ mà bạn "tưởng" có 03 âm tiết như "Cho-co-late" sẽ được phát âm chỉ với 02 âm tiết ( syllables ): ("chawk-lit"); hay "In-te-res-ting" sẽ được phát âm với 03 âm tiết ("In-trơt-ting").

3. Không chỉ vốn từ vựng sẽ phong phú thêm…
E.g.
"You don't look very tan"
Vậy bạn sẽ không nói "you don't look very…black" khi muốn nhận xét về làn da rám nắng của ai đó. :-)

4… mà ngữ pháp của bạn cũng sẽ được củng cố / cải thiện
E.g.
"You should have told me earlier."
( Should have+Verb PP = điều lẽ ra nên làm trong QK ).

Cuộc chạy vì trẻ em Hà Nội năm 2009 trước đây có tên là Cuộc chạy Terry Fox ủng hộ các nghiên cứu về ung thư, sẽ được tổ chức vào hồi 7h45 ngày chủ nhật 22-11-2009 tại hồ Thiền Quang. Cuộc chạy vì trẻ em sẽ quyên góp tiền để hỗ trợ trẻ em mắc bệnh ung thư và các bệnh về tim có hoàn cảnh khó khăn tại Hà Nội. Số tiền quyên góp sẽ được chia đều cho ba đơn vị là Bệnh viện Nhi Trung Ương, Bệnh viện tim Hà Nội và Quỹ Nhịp đập trái tim (Heart Beat) Việt Nam.

Tiền được quyên góp từ đóng góp của các cá nhân tham gia Cuộc chạy, tiền bán Áo phông và tiền tài trợ của các công ty.

Trong 9 năm quan, Cuộc chạy này là một trong những sự kiện gây quỹ thành công nhất tại Hà Nội, thu hút sự tham gia của hơn 37.000 người và quyên góp được hơn 2,2 tỉ đồng. Riêng trong năm 2008 đã có 7.000 người tham gia và quyên góp được 500 triệu đồng.

Tôi còn nhớ những bài học tiếng Anh đầu tiên vào năm lớp 6 THCS, rất nhiều thích thú xen lẫn những bỡ ngỡ về một ngôn ngữ hoàn toàn mới mẻ của phương Tây.

Không tập trung nên học "chữ tác đánh chữ tộ", nhưng tôi (cũng như rất nhiều bạn học khác) thuộc "nằm lòng" rằng phải trả lời "I’m fine, THANK YOU, and you?" khi được hỏi "HOW ARE YOU?" và "THANK YOU" khi nhận được gì (bao gồm cả sự giúp đỡ) từ ai đó.

Thế nhưng, tôi đã đang "mắt thấy, tai nghe" rất nhiều bạn trẻ ở HYEC, trong giao tiếp cơ bản, hình như đã "quên mất" (?). Tôi hỏi "how are you?", các bạn trả lời "good!"; tôi khen "your skirt looks cute!", các bạn nói "yeah / yes" (?); tôi "hì hục" chụp rồi gửi ảnh cho các bạn, các bạn "đáp lễ" cực kỳ…giản đơn, đôi khi chỉ là…"OK" (!).

Nhiều bạn ở HYEC có lẽ vẫn nhớ buổi đi ăn kem để "farewell" Giang, cô bé xinh xắn học trường chuyên Lam Sơn, Thanh Hóa. Em thi được học bổng exchange-course ở Minnesota, Mỹ. Sinh hoạt ở HYEC một thời gian khá ngắn, em thường ngồi cạnh tôi. Em chia sẻ" giá như ở quê em có CLB tiếng Anh bổ ích thế này thì tốt biết bao ". Em thường chú ý lắng nghe hay "take note" lại mỗi khi tôi chỉnh sửa lỗi phát âm hay ngữ pháp cho em. Ngoài sinh hoạt ở CLB, tôi với em giữ liên lạc qua những SMS bằng tiếng Anh. Một ngày trước khi phỏng vấn Visa tại ĐSQ Mỹ, em gọi điện nói muốn gặp. Chúng tôi ăn kem, trò chuyện bằng tiếng…Việt là nhiều. Tôi chia sẻ với em một số kinh nghiệm khi phỏng vấn, cả những kinh nghiêm khi học tập xa nhà mà tôi đã trải qua. Và tôi hiểu, em đang cần được tiếp thêm "sức mạnh" cho ngày hôm sau quyết định ấy. Thật vui khi là một trong những người đầu tiên em gọi điện thông báo kết quả phỏng vấn. Em hạnh phúc lắm. Mơ ước được học tập ở một đất nước với nền KT-GD hàng đầu của em đã thành hiện thực. Hiện nay, khi đã tạm ổn đinh mọi thứ, em vẫn không quên gửi cho tôi những dòng text như "em đã bắt đầu ổn định cuộc sống, gia đình chủ nhà (em ở home-stay) rất tốt. Nhớ chị quá. Cũng nhớ mọi người ở HYEC nữa. Em cảm ơn chị nhiều lắm. Chị là nguồn động viên rất lớn cho cái visa Mỹ của em…".
Tôi thấy ấm áp vô cùng, khâm phục nữa. Em, một người rất ít về tuổi đời dường như chưa bao giờ quên nói CÁM ƠN hay ghi nhớ những điều (tuy rằng rất nhỏ bé thôi) mà người khác đã làm cho em. Và đến giờ, qua tôi, em biết trung thu ở HN như thế nào, HYEC có những hoạt động gì liên quan; qua em, tôi có thể hình dung TP nơi em ở đang chuẩn bị Halloween ra sao..v..v. Tôi tin em sẽ còn tiến xa lắm. :-)

Học ngoại ngữ không đơn giản. Ví dụ, không phải người học nào cũng "be aware" rằng trong giao tiếp lần đầu với người Anh nói riêng và người phương Tây nói chung, ta nên nói về…THỜI TIẾT (WEATHER) vì nó an toàn (safe) và chung chung (neutral), thay vì "động chạm" đến những vấn đề quá riêng tư, cá nhân (personal) của họ như tình yêu, hôn nhân (marital status)..v..v.

Bởi vì ngoài học "TIẾNG" (LINGUISTICS), ta nên tìm hiểu kỹ cả VĂN HÓA (CONCEPT & CULTURE) khi quyết định gắn bó với bất kỳ một ngoại ngữ nào.

This Sunday is 18/10/2009, that is there're just 2 days left for us to welcome one of the most important days of Vietnamese women.

I'm wondering whether we would have the topic for discussion as usual or we're gonna do something a bit special then.

Though I have prepared the topic for the Sunday already, I'm just thinking of what we could do to make the day more impressive and memorable than normal days.

October 10^th’s Special

WE LOVE HANOI

Some of us were born and raised here in Hanoi. Some came here to work or study just a few years ago. But we all have a special place in our hearts for this mysteriously charming little city with a peculiar (kỳ lạ) name of "The City Between Rivers".

Maybe it’s the little corner where you had your first kiss, maybe it’s the secret hangout (chỗ tụ tập) for those times when we skipped our class (trốn học), maybe it’s that quiet refuge (nơi trú ngụ) you seek when you’re sad, or maybe it’s just some fun place to chat with you friends: Each and everyone of us has some special memory or something we absolutely love about our beautiful Hanoi.

Today, let’s share about our love for this city. Anyone is encouraged to talk about anything that s/he loves about Hanoi.

The Vietnamese Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most exciting and popular holidays for Vietnamese families. It’s also called the “Children’s Festival” and it’s celebrated when the moon is the brightest in the fall. • Moon Mask: Moon Mask: It is customary for children to wear moon face masks during the festival. Design the brightest one and let your imagination shine.

Nhà Ếch tạm nghỉ sinh hoạt vào ngày Chủ Nhật tới (16-08-2009)

Để phòng ngừa dịch cúm A-H1N1, Sở Giáo Dục Hà Nội đã có quyết định tạm ngừng hoạt động tất cả các trường học trên địa bàn Hà Nội. Quyết định này có hiệu lực ít ra là đến hết ngày 17-8, và do đó chúng ta đã mất địa điểm sinh hoạt vào 2 ngày CN (ngày 9 & 16 tháng 8).

Chủ Nhật trước (9-08), hơn 20 Ếch đã kéo nhau đến Align Café (1B Mã Mây) và có một buổi sinh hoạt ấm cúng với những trò chơi tập thể vui nhộn. Sau đó nhà Ếch đã làm "tăng 2" tại Karaoke Tôm (Bùi Thị Xuân) với một buổi "hét" hò tơi bời hoa lá! :D (Không hiểu nhiếp ảnh gia hôm đó lặn đâu mất mà không post ảnh lên đây cho bà con thèm.)

Chủ Nhật tới (16-9), vì không tìm được một địa điểm phù hợp nên chúng ta sẽ tạm nghỉ 1 buổi. Chủ Nhật tiếp theo, sau khi quyết định của Sở GD hết hiệu lực, chúng ta sẽ lại "gặp nhau cuối tuần".

In today’s society, women and men are considered equal in every aspect. Women can be successful businesswomen, CEOs, professors, doctors, and they are praised for being independent, proactive in their jobs as well as in their private lives.

However, in the area of love, women are not sure if they should be the proactive partner who makes the first move. There’re still some people who think that making the first move makes women look bad and desperate.

So what do you think about this? Should woman make the first move?

• What actions do you think are “first moves”? Just smiling to him? Asking him for help? Offering him your help? Asking him to join you in a group activity? Asking him to go out with you?

A RAILROAD WORKER'S DILEMMA

One day, a railroad switch operator was attending a railroad switch. A coming train was scheduled to use the tracks on the left, and the switch operator had already made all necessary preparations.

Suddenly, he realized that five railroad workers were busy inspecting the tracks on the left. The train was coming very fast and there wasn’t enough time to stop it. There was also not enough time to tell the five workers to get out of the way. The switch operator had only a few seconds to save five of his friends by turning the switch so that the train would use the tracks on the right.

However, there was also another worker inspecting the tracks on the right!

If the switch operator did not do anything, the train would certainly kill five workers. On the other hand, if the operator turned the switch, one worker would be killed.

• If you were the switch operator, would you turn the switch to the right?
• The same question but instead of one man on the right-hand side tracks, we have one young pregnant woman: Would you kill her to save five workers?
• The same question but with one very old man: Would you kill him to save five workers?

The Case of Kim Anh

INTENTIONAL MURDER OR SELF-DEFENSE?

Introduction

The murder of a successful businessman by his ex-mistress Kim Anh shocked the nation and created many lively discussions around it. People have invented many amusing stories trying to explain the real motives of the case. One beauty contestant (Đỗ Lan Anh — Miss Hanoi University of Culture 2009) even used this topic in her Talent Contest.

Today, we'll also gossip like everybody else! :-) Each group will try to invent a story that explains the case of Kim Anh. At the end of our session, each group will share its story with the rest of the club.

Hints

• Imagine that your group is writing a thriller. Please let your imagination run wild; don’t limit yourself to what the mass media is reporting.
• Try to make your story as detailed as possible. The more outrageous/saucy/funny the details are, the more interesting your story will be.
• You can kick-start your creativity by questioning/examining the following pieces:
  • The motivation of the murder (What benefits could there be for Kim Anh, a student who liked to live in luxury? Could Kim Anh be the mastermind? Who was behind her?)
  • The time, place and the setup of the murder scene (Was it possible to threaten Kim Anh if she was seating at the back and the man was in the front seat?)
  • The manner in which the weapon was obtained by Kim Anh (Was it possible that a sharp knife was casually placed on expensive leather-covered car seats?)
