UNIFORMS FOR SCHOOL GIRLS.

On 16th June, Ministry of Education and Training (MoE&T) demonstrated a law draft concerning wearing uniforms of pupils and students, including school girls all over the country.
According to that, in summer, school girls have one of the following choices for their uniform:
1. Conventional Ao Dai.
2. White T-shirt and Trousers.
3. Skirts.

Some supporting for the law say:

Banning school girls from wearing skirts which are not long enough to cover the knees is necessary. It is good for them to enhance their discipline at school. According to them, moreover, such kind of uniform is considered as a snobbery of Vietnamese pupils and students for style of foreign youths, especially through some American, Korean or Japanese films…

However, some others against the law suppose:

School girls should be allowed to wear short skirts because long ones are not beautiful.Girls can not be dynamic and show up their lovely legs. Additionally, it’s absolutely normal in other countries…

Part I:

As you can see, above are just some of hundreds of different viewpoints for and against the law draft.
How about you? Let’s together discuss to share our thinking about this…

Part II:

Criteria given by MoE&T for school girls’ uniforms are as follows:

1. Beautiful.
2. Suitable for certain age.
3. Adaptable with various climate conditions.
4. Convenient for studying.
5. Economical.

HYEC’s members will now become fashion designers to create appropriate uniforms meeting the above requirements for school girls in order for the law soon to come into force. *_*

Just some semantic errors.

  • "Dress" is "váy dài liền thân" and "skirt" is the part from the waist down (Vietnamese call it "jupe" which is a French loanword for skirt). In this case, I guess that you want to say "skirt" instead of "dress"? Please double check with Wikipedia or Google Image Search whenever you're in doubt.
  • A few other mistakes, but they're not showstoppers so it's ok.

…such kind of uniform is considered as a snobbery of Vietnamese pupils and students for style of foreign youths, …

… to create appropriate customs meeting the above requirements…

I don't know what you want to say, but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be "snobbery" and "customs".

…for school girls’ uniforms are as follows:

2. Suitable for certain sex and age.

And I'm sure that the girls' gender is never in dispute! :-) Or you want to say the uniforms must look like they're not for boys?

Thanks bro for your comments,
I have had the draft edited, but still don't know which word is the most suitable one for "snobbery" in this case. Because I mean " sự đua đòi"..
Anyone can suggest me another word???
Thanks,

In this context, it's best to use "pretentious". So it's "pretentiousness".

Pretentious (adj): trying to be sth that you are not, in order to impress.

As I said, some semantic mismatches are not really show-stoppers, and your topic is quite comprehensible to most Vietnamese. So you should quickly copy the topic to the "Chương trình hàng tuần" subforum. You might want to ask Uyên to fix the presentation for you.
